41st European Conference on Information Retrieval

Location: Maternushaus and GESIS Cologne

The annual European Conference on Information Retrieval is the premier European forum for the presentation of new research results in the field of Information Retrieval.
ECIR 2019 - the 41st European Conference on Information Retrieval - will be held in Cologne, Germany, from 14th to 18th April 2019, hosted by GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences and University of Duisburg-Essen.
The ECIR provides an opportunity for both young and established researchers to present research papers reporting new, unpublished, and innovative research results. Based on the ECIR tradition to focus on junior researchers the ECIR 2019 provides »student stipends« to cover registration fees for full-time students and encourages PhD students in the area of information retrieval to discuss their research ideas with senior researchers within the framework a »Doctoral Consortium«.
On the first day of the conference we invite ECIR 2019 attendees to join workshops and tutorials that provide an interactive platform for presenting novel ideas, research results and IR specific domains. Furthermore, in addition to traditional IR topics there will be a reproducibility track at ECIR 2019, similar to ECIR 2018. The industry day on 18th April 2019 on last day of the conference shows the state of the art in search and search-related areas, delivered as keynote talks by influential technical leaders from the search industry.
Please have a look at the »key program« dates at a glance.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Cologne!

Registration deadline: 31st March 2019
In association with the Centre de Physique Théorique (CPT) in Marseille and the ISI Foundation in Turin, GESIS will conduct a SocioPatterns study during the ECIR conference. The study involves capturing face-to-face interaction via sensors and performing a survey on sociodemographic aspects. The participation is anonymous, voluntary (an informed consent form will be provided at the venue), and withdrawing from it is possible at any time. Further information can be found at  »«.
